TAFE needs more than campaign rhetoric from Rudd
Sep 02, 2013 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --
Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's push for federal control of the TAFE system unless the state governments lift funding levels is misguided. The real issue for the technical colleges is the new era of competition with private providers. The TAFE model is not broken, but the system needs substantial work in the areas of a nationwide framework and sustainable funding. Vocational education in general is deserving of attention during the 2013 federal election campaign.
