Panasonic to begin selling its 1st "4K" high-definition TV in October
(Japan Economic Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TOKYO, Sept. 5 -- (Kyodo) _ Panasonic Corp. said Thursday it will begin selling its first high-definition liquid crystal display television using "4K" technology in mid-October in Japan, Europe and the United States.
The new 65-inch TV from the "Smart Viera" series can display content from the Internet and personal computers with high image quality. It will be offered at around 750,000 yen in Japan.
In the intensely competitive global TV market, Panasonic lags behind Japanese and South Korean makers which have already launched products with 4K technology that delivers four times finer image quality than conventional high-definition televisions.
