A mobile entertainment zone [Express & Echo (England)]
(Express & Echo (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) IF you want to sell your car, then you need innovative in-car entertainment devices and apps, says used vehicle classified site Motors.co.uk.
Research by the company found that almost three quarters of respondents said they would like a digital radio in their next car, a quarter would like to play DVDs through screens in the headrests and one in 10 would like a games console to entertain back seat passengers.
Well, Audi's latest SUV has the sort of innovative equipment which will make it a best seller.
The Q5 includes Audi connect, which brings in-car internet services such as Google Earth, Google Street View, online traffic information and internet radio.
While 80 per cent of people currently have a CD player in their car, just 38 per cent have digital radio says the Motors.co.uk research. Around one in four have the capacity to connect an MP3 device to the car''s sound system and demand for being able to play music from a wireless device or cloud service through a car''s speakers is growing. A third of people said they would like to be able to play music saved on a cloud platform, directly from their car''s control system.
The Q5 has a new feature with smartphone app Audi music stream. Q5 drivers can use it to receive more than 5,000 internet radio stations, and can save their favourites to their mobile phones.
The latest incarnation of the Q5 combines subtle exterior enhancements. The coupe-like roof line runs towards a wrap-around tailgate and headlamps are framed by new look LED daytime running lights. There is a range of 15 colours, four of which are new to this latest generation model.
The interior which is easy to access, despite being a large car, has ample cabin space with a long wheelbase of 2.81 metres. The MMI navigation plus, now has fewer buttons, so is easier to understand and its volume dial has an additional skip function.
Other refinements have been made to the controls for the seat heating, the new highly efficient air conditioning system, the Audi drive select system and the multifunction steering wheel.
In the rear, seat back angles can be adjusted. When seats are folded, the cargo capacity increases from 540 to a huge 1,560 litres.
Four engines, two petrol and two diesel, have been heavily revised or are new and have efficiency gains of up to 15 per cent.
The Audi Q5 will perform well on rugged terrain and has a maximum climbing angle of 31 degrees and ground clearance measures 20 cm.
The challenge of buying a car with a choice of options is to know which technology will add a price premium and which is less desirable to the modern consumer. The Audi Q5 is brimming with popular technology as well as being comfortable and easy to drive.
