Otelo unveils postpaid line-up, strategic deal with Huawei [Global Data Point]
(Global Data Point Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Vodafone Germany's second mobile brand Otelo has unveiled postpaid tariffs, a strategic cooperation with Huawei and a new TV campaign with former top footballer Gunter Netzer at the IFA 2013. Until now Otelo was a prepaid service provider and with three flatrate packages enters the postpaid market. Allnet Flat M offers free calls within Germany, unlimited internet access with the first 500 MB at 7.2 Mbps for EUR 24.99 per month, Allnet Flat L offers unlimited calls and SMSs within Germany plus unlimited internet access with the first 500 MB at 7.2 Mbps for EUR 29.99 and Allnet Flat XL offers unlimited SMS and calling within Germany plus unlimited internet access with the first GB at 7.2 Mbps. The mobile internet speeds are downgraded to 634 Kbps until a new month begins. The tariffs have a minimal contract period of 24 months and are all available with an one month contract, costing EUR 5 per month extra.
With regards to its prepaid portfolio, Otelo added Smartphone XL offering 400 free minutes or SMSs in Germany, 500 MB at 7.2 Mbps for EUR 14.99 a month plus EUR 14.99 activation fee. The provider also introduces mobile data packages for laptop/tablet/PCs: 2 prepaid tariffs: Surfstick (for laptops) and SurfSim (for tablets/netbooks) both costing EUR 9.99 per month including 1 GB or EUR 19.99 per month for 3 GB at 7.2 Mbps. The Surfstick starter package includes a USB modem, EUR 3 data credit for EUR 29.90 and the SurfSim package includes a (micro) Sim with EUR 3 data credit for EUR 4.95. Otelo also offers a postpaid mobile data tariff called Internet Flat for EUR 19.99 per month including 3 GB at 7.2 Mbps after which the speed is dropped to 64 Kbps until a new month begins.
Otelo also unveiled a strategic partnership with Huawei with regards to smartphones as well as fixed network hardware. The first Huawei phone that Otelo will offer is the Ascend P6. To market the new services, Otelo launched a TV and internet campaign starting with a brand commercial featuring Gunter Netzer and a product spot for the new services. This campaign was developed by Argenauten_G2.
