Anomaly Squared Adding Digital and Creative Services Group

Anomaly Squared, a marketing firm known for lead generation and lead qualification, is adding a full-service digital and creative platform. The company will now provide website design, social media strategy and management, digital advertising, search engine optimization, search engine marketing and agency of record services.
Anomaly Squared has hired four digital and creative veterans to launch the group, and anticipates hiring 25 to 30 additional people to expand the team in the coming months.
“The addition of a digital and creative group will allow us to better help companies identify, educate, engage and connect with current and potential customers,” said Jerry Wass, CEO of Anomaly Squared. “We have been very successful in growing the lead qualification portion of our business, and now it is time to turn our attention to growing the creative and digital side.”
Anomaly Squared’s digital marketing group will have several key differentiators from companies that offer similar services. First, the group will house and manage a business accelerator named The Anomaly Project. Entrepreneurs whose companies are selected for the accelerator will receive free office space and technology along with strategic consulting, marketing services, and potentially seed funding to help launch their businesses. The Anomaly Project will begin accepting its first applications on Nov. 1.
Additionally, Anomaly Squared’s digital and creative team will provide educational opportunities for children and youth. Beginning in October, Anomaly Project will hold free computer programming classes for children from ages 8 to 18 in the accelerator’s fully equipped classroom. Using the SCRATCH basic coding platform developed by MIT, children will participate in creating their own interactive games, stories or animations by the end of the class.
“We don’t want to just help grow great companies through our accelerator, but we want to spark creativity and innovation in children,” said Wass, who has two daughters. “You never know where the next great idea will come from, and programs like this will help Greensboro to develop a much deeper culture of technology and creativity.”
To launch its digital platform, Anomaly Squared has hired several key people. John Peele has been named creative director and will lead the digital and creative team. He previously served as a principal and designer at Good Citizen, an integrated design firm, principal and designer with web development firm Rockbeatspaper and as the creative director for Symetri, the digital division of advertising agency Trone Inc.
Justin Streuli has been named director of digital business development and will contribute to creative strategy. Zack Mohorn has been named director of technology. The two previously co-owned Greensboro-based web design and app development firm OpenLedge. Streuli and Mohorn, both long-time proponents of developing a business accelerator in Greensboro, will also manage Anomaly Project.
Anomaly Squared has also hired Matt Chipolet as search engine optimization lead. Chipolet joins Anomaly Squared from Market America, where he helped to coordinate the retailer’s search engine optimization and marketing strategies.
