China's ZCE likely to list japonica rice futures within 2013, bourse head
BEIJING, Sep 12, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
China's Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange
(ZCE) has completed R&D for launching japonica rice futures contracts
and the related trading rules and has already filed an application
for trading the futures product with the regulatory authorities,
Zhang Fan, director general of the exchange, diclosed at a futures
forum on Thursday.
Japonica rice futures are expected to be launched on the ZCE
within this year, according to Zhang.
This will help complete the grain product series on the bourse
which now has only one rice product, i.e. early indica rice. The ZCE
began to trade early rice futures from 2009 and the grain futures
have been running smoothly since then.
Meanwhile, Zhang also revealed that the exchange has planned to
start mock trading of sugar futures options in September and will
soon make a formal project proposal to the securities and futures
regulator for launching the option product. (Edited by Liu Xiaoyun,
