GEICO and Safe Kids Pima County to offer child safety classes and car seats
TUCSON, Ariz. --(Business Wire)--
Motor vehicle crashes remain a leading cause of injury and death for
children, yet the fatality rate could be reduced by about half if the
child safety seat was correctly used.* To help prevent injuries and
and Safe Kids Pima County are now offering "Ride Safe Kids" education
classes at no charge for local families.
Pre-registration for the classes is required, since class sizes are
capped and the proper seats must be pulled for the class. Call
520-546-7340 to reserve a spot and to share the child's age and weight
to ensure the right car seat is reserved.
"Parents want to know how to keep their children safe in their car
seats," said Martha Furnas, GEICO's regional vice president. "We're
happy to partner with Safe Kids to teach families about properly
installing car seats. Together, we can help keep kids safe."
Fmilies will also receive a free car seat upon completion of a
90-minute family auto safety class.
"Last year, we were able to distribute over 350 car seats," said Angela
Aulisio, community relations liaison in GEICO's
Tucson office. "This class is not only very informative for parents
and family members, but it is also helping to keep our Tucson children
"Ride Safe Kids" classes will be held at GEICO's Tucson office, located
at 930 N. Finance Center Drive, near Speedway and Kolb, from 6:30 to 8
p.m. on the following evenings:
Thursday, September 26
Thursday, October 24
Tuesday, December 10
In addition, Spanish classes will be held at the Mulcahy YMCA at Kino
Community Center, located at 2805 E. Ajo Way, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
