Economy man faces child pornography charges [Beaver County Times, Pa.]
(Beaver County Times (PA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 13--ECONOMY -- As an Economy man was in Cambria County on a work-related trip, agents from the state Attorney General's office arrived at his home with a search warrant, entered the empty house and studied his computer files.
As a result of the search, Zachary Robert Monahan, 28, of 2910 Conway Wallrose Road, has been charged with four counts of possession of child pornography, one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a cell phone, according to the criminal report filed by the office of the attorney general.
When interviewed by state agents, Monahan admitted that the child pornography files found in the house belonged to him.
The Attorney General's office began following a trail that led to Monahan on July 24 while exploring file-sharing networks previously connected to child pornography, according to the report.
Agents successfully downloaded a file, identified as child pornography, from an IP number that was later traced to Monahan's home. After obtaining a search warrant, agents went to his home and located the child pornography.
Monahan, after his arrest, told agents he had downloaded the files on both his bedroom computer and his cell phone.
Monahan is being housed in the Beaver County jail.
