Orbit GeoSpatial releases new member of Mapping 10.5 portfolio
Sep 20, 2013 (MarketLine via COMTEX) --
Orbit GeoSpatial Technologies NV, or Orbit GT, has released Orbit Obliques, a new member of the Mapping 10.5 portfolio.
"Orbit Obliques 10.5 is our first official release for full support of Oblique Imagery in our portfolio", said Peter Bonne, VP Business Development and Senior Product Manager at Orbit GT. "This long-awaiting release enphases our engagement in bridging the gap between Airborne and Mobile Mapping next to our wide offerings for the Mobile and UAV mapping industries. Orbit Obliques supports all camera and captation systems which makes it vendor neutral, a required new and open approach to the use of oblique data.
"Oblique Imagery can add dramatic insight in emergency situations, contingency planning, urban planning, 3D city modelling and add value to many more governmental tasks and a wide range of businesses. It is important to build software solutions that are independent from hardware or data vendors and can be implemented in any and all situations with high and proven performance and availability combined with the Orbit ease-of-use signature."
Orbit Obliques is a stand-alone desktop application built upon a powerful GIS and photogrammetry engine. Raw data import supports all camera types and image metadata, and projection systems. Support of DTMs allows perfect matching vector data overlays and 2D and 3D measurements, either in 1 image using the DTM, or using triangulation by measuring in 2 images. It integrates ortho imagery and other basemaps, supports DTMs, overlays vector data and allows various measurements, all with the extreme ease-of-use as is known from Orbit, the company said.
Orbit Obliques desktop solution is the first in a range of Obliques solutions that is today announced by Orbit GT. Much alike the broad Mobile Mapping portfolio, oblique data will be made available in corporate client/server setup, online publishing and SDK embedding. Orbit Obliques can be easily combined with Orbit's solutions for Mobile Mapping, UAS Mapping and Photogrammetry into a single and very complete workstation indeed, the company added.
