GTBank Wins World Finance Banking Awards [Global Data Point]
(Global Data Point Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (GTBank) at the weekend announced that it won the '2013 Best Banking Group - Nigeria' in the 2013 annual world Finance Banking awards.
Also, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, GTBank, Mr. Segun Agbaje, was adjudged the 2013 'Banker of the Year - Africa' by the World Finance Banking awards.
Outlining the rationale for GTBank winning the '2013 Best Banking Group - Nigeria' award, a statement said the judges scored the bank high in the area of innovation and product offering in the financial services industry. Also, it said GTBank's regional reach to cover high growth markets; significant proof of continuous development; strong corporate governance and corporate social responsibility were all evaluated.
The award to Agbaje among other things, took into recognition how he had successfully guided his institution to new heights in its industry.
According to World Finance, "Our judging panel boasts over 230 years of financial and business journalism, supported by a research team that works round the clock to ensure our award winners are the most deserving in their sector".
Commenting on his award, Agbaje said it was in recognition of the hard work and dedication of the management and staff members of the bank. He also thanked the bank's customers for their trust and continued support and promised to continue to strive to deliver beyond their expectation.
Agbaje further declared that the recognition was a challenge and a call to do more in order to promote the global relevance of the African banking industry.
"We are a proudly African and truly international institution and we are committed to the ideal that our stakeholders should be better off for partnering with us. This principle influences our operations, products, style of service delivery and corporate culture," he added.
