Brazil : BRAZIL projects for new mobile, BROADBAND OPERATORS [TendersInfo (India)]
(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has been instructed by the Brazil's Communications Minister Paulo Bernardo to prepare studies for granting licences to another mobile and broadband operator in the country and one for the rural telephony segment.
The feasibility of using the 1800 MHz and 400 MHz frequency bands and the market conditions would be inquired by the Anatel.
If it is sanctioned, the bidding could be conducted in late 2014 for the operation of the service in late 2015.
The existing operator Sunrise and an investment fund linked to George Soros have already shown interest in the market. He added that the goverment is also attentive to small and medium broadband providers, which already account for 20 percent of demand.
