ISBDC Small Business Offerings for October

Learn how to successfully market your business, get valuable tips on cash flow planning or explore the latest trends in social media marketing at seminars offered by the Illinois Small Business Development Center at McHenry County College.
Registration is underway for the following seminars in October:
Tuesday, October 1
6 to 8 p.m.
Starting A Business In Illinois: An information-packed evening for anyone interested in starting their own business. An ISBDC experienced instructor will discuss many of the basics pertaining to entrepreneurship, as well as distribute various handouts with agencies and resources available to help small business owners. Fee: $25.
Wednesday, October 9
6 to 8 p.m.
Marketing 101: Learn To Successfully Market Your Small Business. This seminar introduces business owners to the core fundamentals of marketing and how to apply them to your business in a creative and effective way. Learn the elements of marketing that will lead to the formation of a comprehensive marketing plan. Fee: $35.
Wednesday, October 9, 16, 23 & 30
6 to 9 p.m.
(Only Available as a Series for $175, including textbooks and materials)
The CORE FOUR(TM) Business Planning series is a turn-key curriculum to help you learn the steps to becoming small business owner. Dubbed "The Entrepreneur's Bible" by many of its advocates, CORE FOUR Business Planning is an indispensable learning tool for both novice and experienced entrepreneurs. The series includes:
- Core 1: Success Planning: presents tools for self-assessment, financial goal setting, setting boundaries, communication skills, selling skills, and contingency planning.
- Core 2: Market Planning: tools and strategies for transforming your dream into a real, market-driven business.
- Core 3: Cash Flow Planning: planning the financial future of your business with emphasis on projecting sales, setting sales goals, and contingency planning.
- Core 4: Operations Planning: presents key issues and strategies for operating a legitimate business that complies with legal standards and requirements.
Wednesday, October 23
6 to 8 p.m.
Social Media Roundtable: The ISBDC will continue the monthly Social Media Roundtable group for small business owners to discuss the latest trends in social media marketing and share various approaches with their peers. A social media professional will help facilitate the discussion and be available for questions. There is no fee to attend, but reservations are required as seating is limited.
