DTS announces iOS support for Play-Fi wireless solution
Sep 27, 2013 (MarketLine via COMTEX) --
DTS, Inc., a provider of audio solutions and audio post processing technologies, has announced that its Play-Fi wireless audio streaming solution is now compatible with iOS devices.
With the addition of iOS compatibility, DTS Play-Fi is now the first licensable whole-home audio technology capable of streaming lossless, high-quality audio from both iOS and Android devices, as well as Windows PCs, to multiple rooms, from multiple users, simultaneously using standard Wi-Fi.
"With the resurgence of home audio happening today, we are seeing growing demand for a wireless audio solution that works across all platforms, " said Brian Towne, executive vice president and COO, DTS. "Expanding Play-Fi's compatibility to now include the two leading mobile platforms provides DTS a much stronger platform to reach more consumers."
"Households are increasingly using multiple devices, enjoying a broad range of music services, and demanding higher quality whole-home listening experiences. Bluetooth can't deliver that, single platform solutions can't deliver that, and closed architectures from single brands can't deliver that. DTS' Play-Fi technology can," added Dannie Lau, lead architect for Play-Fi platform, DTS.
Unlike single speaker wireless solutions, which only allow users to stream directly to one speaker from their mobile devices, DTS' Play-Fi gives users full control of an entire network of speakers in the home. Users can set-up, link, and stream audio to one Play-Fi enabled speaker or multiple speakers throughout the home at once, perfectly synchronized and with no lag. Via the free DTS Play-Fi app for iOS, users can stream music from iTunes, access all of their existing playlists, and even stream popular music services such as Pandora.
