BRIEF: Tulsa man pleads guilty to child-porn charge [Tulsa World, Okla.]
(Tulsa World (OK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 28--A Tulsa man has pleaded guilty to a federal child pornography charge, admitting that he knowingly possessed the illegal material on a desktop computer.
Jovan D. Bennett, 23, was indicted June 3 by a Tulsa federal grand jury. The charge to which he pleaded guilty alleged that, on March 10, 2009, he possessed computerized images of minors engaged in sexually explicit activity.
Bennett's online activity was detected by FBI Innocent Images Task Force members, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Cyran.
A search warrant was subsequently served at Bennett's residence, which resulted in the seizure and examination of the computer, Cyran has said.
Bennett admitted in a plea agreement filed Thursday that he knowingly downloaded the illegal images through the Internet and at least one file-sharing program.
U.S. District Judge James Payne will sentence Bennett, who is free on bond, on Jan. 29.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Gallant estimated that Bennett faces 57 to 71 months in prison.
