The Management Information Directorate provides an advanced information technology to support and implement the objectives of Civil Service Bureau (CSB), through developing the bureau's services into electronic mode and managing the Human Resource and Payroll System for Civil Service employees to create the technological environment and the continuity of technical support. The main tasks of the directorate are developing, updating and application of a clear policy for information technology in CSB. It also bears the responsibility of developing and applying procedures and standards to ensure quality, security and confidentiality of the information, database management, determination of the absorptive capacity and development of computer systems to support and achieve the goals of CSB and promote CSB's plans to transform procedures electronically by providing necessary technical support. The directorate is divided into computer users' support section, development and application of information technology section, application and database administration section, information and indicators section, computer network and system administration section and information security and quality assurance section. The role of computer users' support section is to communicate with government entities to know the future requirements and then prepare plans to achieve these requirements with respect to the field of Information Technology. It provides all technical support services to all government entities such as networks, Internet, e-mail, data security, HR system, receive and classify all problems reported by users while using the HR system, training of government entities on the bureau's electronic systems and finally testing the adjustment made in the systems before activating it. Development and application of Information Technology section develops programmes and electronic systems related to HR, employee performance evaluation, training, payroll and employee services for all ministries and the government entities. The section also updates all software and electronic systems to comply with the new civil service legislation. It develops application to support the Bureau Directorate to facilitate their work and increase productivity, upgrades the CSB services provided through e-government portal.
It also works on continuous updating of programmes and studies the feasibility of using new technologies to raise the efficiency of human resource management in the civil service sector, Application and database administration section is responsible for managing the electronic system's database in CSB, backup copies of government databases on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, maintaining the governmental applications and operating systems, negotiating and managing agreements between the CSB and major computer companies (Microsoft, Oracle, Trend Micro, McAfee etc.). This section also plans, organises and manages the entry of employees in government entities to CSB systems through the portal, managing and maintaining the electronic archiving system used by all government entities. It involves in CSB portal development in cooperation with the e-Government Authority to provide an electronic services to citizens and finally prepare and print payroll related reports. Information and indicators section receives the requests from government entities that are related to reports, provision of information and statistics for all governmental and non-governmental organisations, information and statistics analysis for the preparation of studies and indicators. It also undertakes the work of managing the Business Intelligence System in order to provide an easyto-use interface to decisionmakers in government entities. Computer network and system administration section is responsible for the daily backup of the work of the CSB employees, installation of software and applications. It also provides support and assistance to employees, organises working groups, creates new users, as well as manages the support service, related to the network. The information security and quality assurance section ensures the quality and accuracy of information in the electronic systems, application of international standards and the development of confidential information security policy and makes sure that it is in place. ? ?
