Steele Appoints Gabriela Roitburd as Associate Managing Director of ABAC Compliance Practice in Brazil [Professional Services Close - Up](Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Steele CIS, Inc., a global business advisory and risk management company providing compliance intelligence to multinational businesses, announced the expansion of its regulatory compliance business in Sao Paulo, Brazil by appointing Gabriela Roitburd as Associate Managing Director. According to a release, Roitburd joined Steele CIS as a Senior ABAC Compliance Consultant with more than 10 years of in-house experience in large multinational companies spanning the consumer electronics, medical-device and pharmaceutical sectors. "Multinational corporations and local companies operating in Latin America are committed to ethical reform. Brazil's Clean Companies Act going into effect January, 2014, is another step forward in the global trend of increasing legislation to combat corruption. Gabriela's appointment is reflective of Steele's growth in the region and our investment in having local compliance expertise in Brazil," says Marcos Rosales, President of Steele Latin America. At Philips, Roitburd was responsible for contracts and public tenders, as well as supporting Audit. At Covidien, she was the Head of Legal and Compliance in Brazil where she launched their ABAC program. Before becoming an in-house counsel, Roitburd worked in private practice in both New York and Sao Paulo. Roitburd serves as a member of the Ethics Committee of the Brazilian Association of High-Technology Industry of Medical Equipment, Products and Devices (ABIMED). She holds an LL.M. from Boston University School of Law and an Executive MBA in Strategic and Economic Business Management.
