BRIEF: Gilat wins $12m contract in Bolivia [Globes, Tel Aviv, Israel]
(Globes (Tel Aviv) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 06--State-owned Bolivian telecommunications company Entel has selected Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: GILT; TASE: GILT) to provide telecommunications equipment in a contract worth $12 million. Entel was nationalized by the Bolivian government five years ago. It provides fixed-line, mobile, and Internet services.
Gilat, headed by Erez Antebi, provides satellite ground segment equipment and VSATs for both civilian and defense purposes. It has a market cap of $203 million.
Gilat recently announced the sale of subsidiary Spacenet for $16 million.
Gilat's core business nowadays is its commercial-civilian division providing satellite communications equipment to telecommunications companies, and its defense division, which focuses on Satellite-on-the-Move solutions for armed forces and security organizations.
