Mid Valley appoints consultant while business manager search continues [The Times-Tribune, Scranton, Pa.]
(Times-Tribune (Scranton, PA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 08--THROOP -- The Mid Valley School District remains without a permanent business manager, but the school board hired a Pittston-based business office consultant at a special meeting Monday.
The school board appointed Albert B. Melone Co. as the district's business office consultant as needed at a $6,000 fixed rate per month for a minimum of 25 hours of work each week. There will be no extra fee for additional hours.
The vote came one week after Anthony Spadoni stepped down from the position after one day on the job. The position at Mid Valley was vacated in August after Joseph Caputo resigned and accepted the business manager position at Lakeland.
"It's a stopgap," said board member Peter Kolcharno of Monday's appointment.
"We're still urgent with (the search)," added Gerald Luchansky, the school board president.
The board had not decided whether to advertise for the position again or select another candidate from the applications already received, but they planned to move forward with the process quickly, Mr. Luchansky said.
In other business, the board approved Andrea Davis as a certified occupational therapist assistant at a $40,100 yearly salary. The district shares COTA and occupational therapy services with the Valley View School District, which pays for the cost of the occupational therapist.
The board also approved a cooperative sponsorship agreement with Scranton School District for boys junior high wrestling for the 2013-14 school year.
