Disney Channel star to visit Erie [Erie Times-News, Pa.]
(Erie Times-News (PA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 10--Scott Enterprises officials expect to see a sea of Disney Channel fans at Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park Resort on Saturday.
They'll be there to see Peyton List, one of the stars of the Disney Channel series "Jessie." She'll be on hand from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the indoor water park, 8091 Peach St., for a meet-and-greet event.
List, 15, plays Emma Ross on the show, which just started its third season. She also starred in "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" films.
Robert Kramer, marketing and sales manager at Splash Lagoon, said List's appearance is part of a wider effort to host more events at the water park. He said it's the park's first celebrity appearance, but it won't be the last.
"We're trying to do some creative special events," Kramer said. "We want to engage customers more than we have in the past, and provide different experiences. We're excited to have (List) on board."
Bringing in children's TV stars has proved to be a successful promotional tool locally. Hundreds of fans of the Nickelodeon show "iCarly" lined up at the Millcreek Mall in June when one of that show's stars, Nathan Kress, made an appearance.
List is spending the week rehearsing and filming in Los Angeles and will fly in to Erie on Friday night.
The trip will be her first to western Pennsylvania, and she said she looks forward to meeting some of her fans from the area.
"I love to meet kids and talk about what they like about the show," List said.
She said one of the most popular topics of conversation is what it's like to work with a 7-foot lizard known as Mrs. Kipling on the show.
List had one piece of advice for fans planning to come out Saturday to talk and take pictures: Don't be afraid to approach her.
"Come with your camera ready and ready to talk," List said. "No need to be shy."
