DIA discusses city marketing [Durant Daily Democrat, Okla.]
(Durant Daily Democrat (OK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 09--The Durant Industrial Authority held its regular meeting Tuesday October 8 at 7 a.m. The Authority heard from a marketing team chosen to promote the city.
The Jones Lang LaSalle Durant Project Marketing team was chosen by the authority to promote the city and bring more industry and business into the area.
The team consisted of Managing Director and Team Leader Terry Darrow, Associate Transaction Manager Craig Phelps and Analyst Elizabeth Jones.
Darrow said they are going to answer the question of "how do we get corporate citizens in Durant?" He said with the way Durant already knows how to make deals happen, he will load Durant up with opportunities and they will work with the authority to make deals happen.
The team discussed strengths and weaknesses of the area and marketing ideas to bring in desired companies.
Marketing ideas included on-site signage, aerial photos, websites and e-marketing. Darrow expressed his confidence in the project saying "we don't take jobs we don't think we can perform on."
During the meeting it was also revealed that the Durant La Quinta Inn is now open and The Tile Shop is working to expand to accommodate over growth of its current facility.
The asphalt plant, now named Southeastern Materials, LLC is also well underway and completely paid for, according to DIA.
