China Telecom names bid result for "163" backbone network upgrade

China Telecom (CHA.NYSE; 00728.HK)
has determined the bid result of integrated procurement for upgrading
its "163" backbone network. Domestic telecom equipment manufacturer
Huawei and its foreign counterpart Cisco became bid winners, the
telecom news portal c114.net reported on Saturday.

the integrated procurement, and its share in the building of new
network parts exceeded 30 percent.
An expert said China Telecom would continue its investment in the
upgrade of the "163" backbone network, which would have a capacity of
more than 100Tbps in 2015 and bring several billion yuan of sales
revenue to the equipment manufacturers in the next three years.
