TV Signal Shifts to Digital
(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The transmission of television and broadcast signals in the country will change from the current analogue system to digital, a transition that will continue until 2017.
The minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology José Carvalho da Rocha assured so Thursday in Luanda.
The minister was speaking at the end of the 10th ordinary session of the Economic Commission of Cabinet Council, having stressed that the process has to do with a technological revolution.
He said that goal is to attain a desirable coverage across the country until 2017.
The minister said that since the approval this Thursday, by the Economic Commission, of the Digital Migration of Terrestrial Television and Broadcasting programme, the conditions have been created to develop process at different stages.
The digital migration system helps reduce width of frequency, preserve the quality of the signal.
The picture and sound signals are represented by a bits sequence, and not by an electromagnetic wave.
