China Mobile (CHL.NYSE; 00941.HK) likely to purchase 50 mln TD-LTE terminals in
BEIJING, Oct 13, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
China's largest basic telecom
operator China Mobile (CHL.NYSE; 00941.HK) was likely to purchase 50
million TD-LTE terminals next year, to mature the homegrown 4G
industrial chain, the telecom news portal c114.net reported on
The 50 million terminals would include 40 million TD-LTE
smartphones and 10 million data communication terminal equipment.
China Mobile previously planned to purchase 1 million TD-LTE
terminals this year, but only completed the procurement of 200,000
sets by now. It was predicted to buy more than 800,000 TD-LTE
terminals in the fourth quarter this year so as to fulfill the plan.
Industry insiders predicted that smartphones would take a big
share in China Mobile's second term integrated procurement of TD-LTE
terminals, and the average price of low-end TD-LTE smartphones on
China's market would fall to 1,000 yuan in the second half of 2014.
It was also predicted that the total shipment of 4G LTE mobile
phones on China's market would be from 50 million sets to 100 million
sets in 2014. (Edited by Li Xiaoyu, Lixy@xinhua.org)
