MIIT to examine preinstalled software for mobile phones in Nov.
BEIJING, Oct 14, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
China's Ministry of Industry and
Information Technology(MIIT) would conduct approval examination on
the software preinstalled in mobile phones by the manufacturers since
November 1, according to a notice it issued at the year beginning,
the telecom news portal cctime.com reported on Tuesday.
The Notice on Strengthening Administration of Mobile Smart
Terminals also said the mobile phone manufacturers should not
preinstall any software that collect or modify users' information
without users' authorization or other malicious software.
Statistics show that China's Internet user number will reach 611
million in 2013, and the mobile Internet user number will reach 461
million. And the preinstalled software or apps have become an
important profit source for the mobile phone manufacturers.
