London Gatwick Airport to receive telecommunications service form Xchanging
Oct 18, 2013 (AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION via COMTEX) --
London-based business process procurement and technology services provider Xchanging said it has signed a new five-year technology contract with existing customer London Gatwick Airport.
Gatwick is the the busiest single-runway airport in the world.
Under the terms of the contract, Xchanging, in partnership with Fujitsu and Cisco, will modernise the existing communications infrastructure and provide collaboration services, including voice, video and instant messaging.
Phase one of the roll-out will begin this month and include 1,100 members of staff, before extending the services to the remaining 2,500 employees and the airport's 300 commercial customers.
The new platform will provide the airport's workforce with greater mobility, enabling staff to work from anywhere, connecting through to any device.
Collaboration will be possible via smartphones and video conferencing and the flexible service means Gatwick Airport can consume services as necessary.
The contract is part of Gatwick Airport's extensive transformation programme.
