KONE Corporation, press release, October 18, 2013
KONE has won an order to supply dozens of eco-efficient elevators and escalators for the renovation of Kyle Field Stadium in College Station, Texas.
"With a project this size, stadium operators must be confident that they're providing visitors with safe and reliable transportation solutions," said Larry Wash, KONE EVP and Area Director for KONE Americas. "We're honored to provide our eco-efficient elevators and escalators, with the added promise of passenger comfort and safety, to one of the largest stadiums in the country."
KONE will supply seven escalators and five elevators for the renovation's first phase, which will begin upon the completion of the 2013 American football season in December 2013. The remaining 14 escalators and eight elevators will be installed in the project's second phase, which will span from the completion of the 2014 season in December to the start of the 2015 season in August. Areas outside of the demolition and new work areas will remain open throughout construction. The stadium, when finished, will host over 100,000 people.
KONE will maintain the new equipment, in addition to the 300 units it currently maintains as the service provider for Texas A&M University.
The order was booked in the third quarter of 2013.
