Al Futtaim Motors recalls Toyota Avalon units [Gulf News (United Arab Emirates)]
(Gulf News (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dubai: Al Futtaim Motors on Sunday confirmed that 1,395 Toyota Avalon units need to be recalled to deal with an issue that could impair air bags. These units were built between August 2011 and June 2013, according to a statement issued by the local Toyota dealership. Explaining the problem, the statement from Al Futtaim Motors read: "Toyota Motor Corporation has informed us that if the condenser drain hose becomes clogged, condensed water can accumulate at the bottom of the air conditioning condenser housing. Due to the location of the housing seam, which is directly above the air bag control module, the accumulated water could leak through the seam onto the module. In some instances, if the circuit board inside the module becomes wet, it could result in illumination of the air bag warning light. In some instances, the air bag(s) could become disabled or could inadvertently deploy. In rare cases, other components may also be affected."
