Assurant Solutions's Manuel Becerra Named to CTIA Wireless Association Board of Directors [Manufacturing Close - Up]
(Manufacturing Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Assurant Solutions, a global provider of mobile protection products and services, announced that Manny Becerra, president of its Mobile Services business, has been elected to the CTIA Board of Directors for a third term, beginning Jan. 1, 2014.
According to a release, CTIA - The Wireless Association is an international industry trade group representing all wireless communication sectors.
"CTIA is a valuable resource for U.S. businesses in the mobile industry," said Becerra. "It's my honor to once again serve the CTIA board, and I will continue to do my best to provide value to the organization and its board members."
The newly elected CTIA board will begin its one year term on January 1, 2014. CTIA is an international nonprofit membership organization that has represented the wireless communications industry since 1984. Membership in the association includes wireless carriers and their suppliers, as well as providers and manufacturers of wireless data services and products. CTIA also coordinates the industry's voluntary efforts to provide consumers with a variety of choices and information regarding their wireless products and services. This includes the voluntary industry guidelines; programs that promote mobile device recycling and reusing; and wireless accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
"CTIA's members provide U.S. consumers with the world's best wireless service and consistently make significant investments in the U.S. economy. Among the 2014 Board of Directors' goals is to make certain the U.S. wireless industry remains the world's leader in innovation so that Americans continue to benefit from wireless telecommunications," said Steve Largent, President and CEO, CTIA. "One of the key components to this is making sure more spectrum is made available for commercial wireless use. By working together and with the expert guidance of our board, CTIA will work diligently to ensure appropriate public policy that recognizes the need for the U.S. wireless industry to remain the best in the world."
The company noted that, new to CTIA's 2014 Board of Directors are executives from Carolina West Wireless; Cellular One of N.E. AZ; DOCOMO PACIFIC, INC.; GM OnStar; Locaid; nTelos Wireless; and Openwave Mobility.
