CIPA launches the national contest: Here is Canada: The Road to 2017!

Video contests asks youth to share what it means to be a Canadian
The Collectivité ingénieuse de la
Péninsule acadienne (CIPA)is pleased to announce the official launch
of Here is Canada: The Road to 2017!, a national video contest that seeks to engage 19 to 25-year old young
Canadians from across the country. To enter participants will be asked
to create a video that shares what it means to be a young Canadian for
a chance to win a grand prize of $5,000. Here is Canada: The road to 2017 is funded by the "Youth Take Charge" program at Canadian Heritage and
received a financial contribution of $160,000.
"The contest is designed to showcase the creativity of young Canadians
and to drive them to explore the rich heritage of their country, said
Vikie Thériault, Project Manager, CIPA. "We hope that this contest
inspires youth to become more aware about what it means to be Canadian
and how our history has shaped the country we live in today."
To participate in the contest, young Canadians have been asked to
develop a short video that shares what it means to be a young adult in
Canada today. As a part of the video submissions entrants will be
asked to examine the impact of historical milestones on the Canada we
live in today. Participants will submit their original videos on the
contest website hereiscanada.ca, where they will be available for viewing and sharing.
The jury will then select the top ten entries and determine a grand
prize winner who will receive $5,000. The other nine finalists will
each receive prizes between $500 and $1,000. Approximately $5,000 in
additional prizes will be used for promotional purposes throughout the
The contest begins today and runs until February 19, 2014. The contest
is open to legal residents of Canada who are age 19 to 25. For full
