MIIT permits China Telecom (CHA.NYSE; 00728.HK) to build TD-LTE experimental net

China's Ministry of Industry and
Information Technology (MIIT) has permitted China Telecom (CHA.NYSE;
00728.HK) to begin the construction of TD-LTE experimental networks
and launch the commercial trials relevant to the homegrown 4G
The fact indicates that the telecom operator will get a 4G license
for TD-LTE network operation, the telecom news portal c114.net
reported on Thursday.
China Telecom unveiled the bid results of integrated procurement
for 4G LTE equipment last week. Eight telecom equipment manufacturers
became bid winners.
China Telecom began 4G experiments in cities including Shanghai
and Nanjing last November. These experiments are mainly based on the
