China's smartphone shipment hits 347 mln sets in Q1-Q3
BEIJING, Oct 29, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
Smartphone shipments in China reached
347 million in the first three quarters of 2013, accounting for 74.3
percent of China's total mobile phone shipment, according to the
Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The news portal sina.com.cn reported on Wednesday China's
smartphone shipments began to burst two years ago.
In 2012, the smartphone shipments grew by more than 60 percent
year on year. And in the first half of this year, the smartphone
shipments grew by more than 25 percent year on year.
However, the shipments are not equal to the market share. Last
year, China's smartphone shipments accounted for more than 50 percent
of total mobile phone shipments, but the proportion of smartphone
users among mobile phone users in China was only about 25 percent.
That fact indicats that a good amount of smartphone shipments in
China are for exports.
On the other hand, market researcher IDC said the worldwide
smartphone shipments grew 39 percent in the third quarter this year
and reached 258 million. (Edited by Li Xiaoyu, Lixy@xinhua.org)
