China's mobile phone sales top 100 mln in Q3: Analysys International
BEIJING, Oct 30, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
China's mobile phone sales, excluding
smuggled goods and counterfeit goods, reached 102.66 million sets in
the third quarter of 2013, up 13.6 percent quarter on quarter and
54.5 percent year on year, according to a report released by market
researcher Analysys International on Thursday.
Among the total sales volume, 93.08 million sets were smartphones,
up 20.7 percent quarter on quarter and up 89.3 percent year on year.
The share of smartphones on China's mobile phone market grew to 90.7
The top three mobile phone brands on China's market were still
Samsung, Lenovo and Coolpad. The share of Apple fell 1.1 percent from
that for the second quarter of 2013, but was predicted to rebound in
the fourth quarter thanks to the release of new iPhone products in
September, said Wang Jun, an analyst from Analysys International.
Wang added that the rebounding momentum would not last long and
Apple's share would continue to fall.
The market researcher attributed the sharp increase of mobile
phone sales to three factors. Firstly, China's mobile phone market
entered into the traditional selling season in September; secondly,
China Mobile (CHL.NYSE; 00941.HK) boosted the popularization of 3G
services to its customers, making TD-SCDMA phone sales account for
about 40 percent in the total; thirdly, the retail sales of
smartphones dropped significantly, which stimulate the mobile phone
sales. (Edited by Li Xiaoyu, Lixy@xinhua.org)
