Pounds 1.8m bill for servers [Hull Daily Mail (England)]
(Hull Daily Mail (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) HULL: Cash-strapped Hull City Council is set to spend almost Pounds 2m upgrading its computer servers.
A report due to be discussed by councillors next week says the authority's current services are obsolete. It also says the council's network of about 300 separate servers has reached a critical stage of renewal. It says: Without significant investment there will be increased risk of major system failures, which could lead to some services being unable to operate. Replacement servers are expected to cost about Pounds 1.8m.
