(Telegraph-Herald (Dubuque, IA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dubuque native and award-winning hair and makeup artist Paul Palmer, who has more than 33 years of experience in the industry, has opened Palmer Hair Design, located at Center Grove Suites, Dubuque. Palmer is a 1976 graduate of Hempstead High School and son of Dick and Glenna Palmer. Prior to his return, he worked for 21 years in the Des Moines area, where his professional achievements include the startup and operation of Salon and Day Spa by Palmer. A certified laser technician, he also served as director of Skin Care at Heartland Plastic Surgery Center. Throughout his career, he has worked with regional and national talent agencies to style talent for photo shoots, movie sets and beauty pageants across the country. He will continue his work as a talent scout in conjunction with the International Model and Talent Association. In 2014, his hope is to expand his studio work to include skin care. Platinum Supplemental Insurance announced the following:
Dan Reich joined the company as a personnel manager. In this position, he educates and interviews interested candidates for the Platinum Sales Opportunity. He also coaches hired representatives through the insurance licensing process. He formerly worked as a sales representative for six years selling Platinum Supplemental Insurance products.
Garrett Eaton joined the company as a software developer in the IT department. In this position, he is responsible for designing and implementing new software tools for the company and maintaining existing software. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in business administration and computer science.
Jeannie Horn joined the company as a benefits coordinator in the administrative sales center. In this position, she contacts current Platinum customers to communicate additional policy options or products that might benefit a policyholder. She has worked in sales for 20 years. She earned her associate's degree from Northeast Iowa Community College.
Katie McFarland joined the company as a customer service team lead in the customer service department. In this position, she is responsible for answering sales representative and customer questions about the company, its insurance policies and the claims process. She also assists with unique requests or service questions and serves as a resource for the customer service specialists. She formerly has experience in health care as a wellness director at various Dubuque organizations. She earned a bachelor's degree in leisure, youth and human services from the University of Northern Iowa.
Stella Runde joined the company as a strategic alliance manager. In this position, she is responsible for recruiting Alliance partners, integrating them within the company's structure and working with them to maximize the partnership for both organizations. She has worked in the financial industry for more than eight years. She received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa.
Tim Huebner joined the company as a telecommunications administrator in the IT department. In this position, he is responsible for managing the company's advanced phone system, reporting call statistics, setting up conference calls and video conferencing, working with outside vendors and other telecommunication tasks. He has worked in various IT positions and has extensive experience in networking.
Tyler Henry joined the company as a support specialist in the IT department. In this position, Henry is responsible for responding to employee requests regarding hardware or software issues. He also works with the sales force to guide representatives through technology challenges on company-issued mobile devices. He formerly worked with IT security systems and support for a technology firm. He received an associate's degree in computer networking and system administration from Northeast Iowa Community College.
A Galena-based home health agency, 24-Hour Care, LLC, announced that Mindy Roberts, MSN, ARNP, AGNP-C, has been promoted to chief nursing officer/chief operations officer and agency supervisor. She recently became credentialed by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and also received her licensure in Iowa as a certified adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner and a certified adult nurse practitioner. Licensure application also has been filed with the state of Illinois. She has worked for 15 years as a registered nurse, 11 of those years in a managerial position specializing in long-term care. During that time, she was responsible for more than 70 employees and overseeing other departments as needed.
