Parts of Nilsen story published on internet [Herald, The (Scotland)]
(Herald, The (Scotland) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SERIAL killer Denis Nilsen has had parts of his auto biography published while in prison.
The former civil servant and police officer from Aberdeenshire is serving a life sentence in Full Sutton jail near York for killing six men and attempting to kill two others in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
However, sections of his life story have now been published on the internet, in defiance of a Government ban. The authorities have prevented publication of accounts of Nilsen's life, claiming the details would distress victims' families.
Top criminologist Professor David Wilson describes the writing as "pornographic". He added: "The man is a narcissist and is looking for attention." In 1966, the killer wrote Nilsen: A History Of A Drowning Man, a copy of which was taken out of jail by his solicitor, but publication was vetoed and the transcript never returned. It is not known how elements of the new book have made it online.
