Adobe declares record online sales on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday

Dec 02, 2013 (WORLDWIDE COMPUTER PRODUCTS NEWS via COMTEX) -- Diversified software company Adobe (Nasdaq:ADBE) on Saturday released its Adobe Digital Index 2013 online shopping data, which revealed that Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday saw record online sales with 1.062bn and 1.93bn, respectively.

According to the company, online sales were over 24% on smartphones and tablets for the first time, a record increase of 118% year-over-year, with iOS-based devices driving over USD543m in online sales and iPad taking a 77% share, while Android-based devices saw USD148m in online sales, a 4.9% share of mobile driven online sales.

This data is based on Adobe's analysis of nearly 400m visits to over 2000 US retailers' websites on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. Over 70% of the online sales were with the top 500 US retailers, which were generated by these companies using Adobe Analytics, a key component of Adobe Marketing Cloud, the company stated.
