(Cape Argus (South Africa) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WASHINGTON: Online Black Friday shopping soared to $3 billion (R30bn) over two days beginning on Thanksgiving, with tablets and cellphones used for nearly a quarter of sales, estimates showed on Saturday.
Online sales reached $1.93bn on Friday itself, the unofficial start of the retail sector's holiday season, a 39 percent increase over last year, according to software maker Adobe.
At shop sales, there were with reports of fistfights, a stabbing and a shooting between shoppers.
