WISPA Welcomes FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler and Commissioner Michael O'RiellyBluffton, IN, Dec 02, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- The Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA), a membership organization that promotes the development, advancement and unity of the wireless Internet service provider industry, congratulates newly appointed Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Tom Wheeler, and Commissioner Michael O'Rielly. In letters sent to the Chairman and Commissioner recognizing their recent appointments, WISPA reinforces the need for the FCC to develop policies that provide affordable, ubiquitous broadband access to all citizens of the United States. Chairman Wheeler offered comments at a recent FCC workshop in which he voiced support for policies intended to promote the use of unlicensed spectrum. "I would like to personally congratulate Chairman Wheeler and Commissioner O'Rielly on their new appointments. Our members felt that the recent incentive auction workshop provided the FCC with good feedback on the value proposition that unlicensed spectrum offers to the economy and to consumers. Unlicensed spectrum supports innovation as well as providing a cost-effective means to meet the fixed broadband Internet needs of rural America," said Alex Phillips, FCC Committee Chair for WISPA.
