Concurrent Launches Intelligent Request Router for Multi-Screen Video

ATLANTA --(Business Wire)--

Concurrent (NASDAQ: CCUR), a global leader in multi-screen video delivery and media data intelligence software, today announced a new intelligent request router for its MediaHawk VX™ unified content delivery solution. Concurrent's intelligent request router enables service providers to more efficiently deliver video content to consumers across a geographically distributed network, making better use of available network resources and ensuring consumers receive a consistently high quality of service.

Concurrent's request router uses network information, including the request location, the requested content, the current status of the content delivery network, and service provider defined settings to direct stream requests to the optimal edge serving node. Edge serving nodes are selected based on their proximity to the consumer, the availability of the requested content in the local cache, and current traffic volumes on the network and servers. The intelligent request router offers service providers a better way to monitor, control, and respond to changes in network utilization on-the-fly with the goal of improving the consumer's overall quality of experience for CDN based multi-screen video services.

"As service providers transition their live and on-demand video services from traditional networks to HTTP based content delivery networks, they are focused on delivering the highest quality of experience to consumers on every screen", said Matt Smith, VP of Product Line Management at Concurrent. "They need solutions that are scalable, easy to use, and flexible enough to accommodate changes over time. Our new intelligent request router provides customers with the features and flexibility they need to optimize traffic across their national and global content delivery networks, continue to expand their MediaHawk VX unified content delivery systems, and meet emerging market demands."

Concurrent's intelligent request router is designed to address the specific requirements of multi-screen video delivery. Once configured, the system can account for ste specific capacity constraints and adjust delivery to satisfy changing network traffic patterns. As a software solution, Concurrent's request router is a flexible platform designed to evolve over time to address new and developing multi-screen strategies.

Concurrent's intelligent request router is in pre-launch trials with a leading video service provider in support of their multi-screen video services deployment. The product will be made generally available to all customers by the end of the calendar year.
