Red Ventures plans to hire 200 in Charlotte region [The Charlotte Observer]
(Charlotte Observer (NC) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dec. 04--Fort Mill, S.C.-based Red Ventures said Wednesday that it plans to hire more than 200 employees in the Charlotte area after landing deals with AT&T, National General Insurance and Verizon.
Red Ventures, which handles marketing and inbound sales calls for major brands, said the majority of the jobs will be sales positions. The other positions include engineers and Web designers.
Roughly 180 of the hires will work at the headquarters site, while the rest will be employed at the company's University City location, Red Ventures spokeswoman Kylie McQuain said.
The sales jobs will pay from $35,000 to $65,000 a year, when base pay and uncapped commissions are factored in, McQuain said. She could not provide salary estimates for the other positions, as pay for the jobs will vary based on experience.
The company is planning to make the hires by February, she said.
Red Ventures will provide AT&T, National General Insurance and Verizon a combination of online marketing and sales services, she said.
Wednesday's announcement brings the number of Red Ventures clients to 17. Other clients include major companies such as DirecTV and ADT Security. McQuain said the company has added roughly six clients since the year began.
Red Ventures has also been adding employees this year. In January, the company announced plans to hire 290 salespeople at its headquarters. McQuain said the company has had a net increase of 300 employees since the year began.
The company employs roughly 1,700 at call centers in the Carolinas, Miami and San Antonio. Its largest employment base is Fort Mill, with 1,100 employees. Its newest call center, in University City, opened in September at 1000 Louis Rose Place. The University City site employs 104.
Red Ventures was founded in 2000. In addition to handling customer calls for companies, it also creates websites for its clients.
It's not the only company to add call center jobs in Charlotte this year. Cincinnati-based Convergys said last month that it added 1,650 jobs at its two sites in Charlotte.
Across the country, call center employment has shown annual gains every year since 2010, according to seasonally adjusted federal data. Last year, the sector employed 452,000, up 1.6 percent from the year before.
