LG launches G Pad 8.3 tablet in UAE [Khaleej Times (United Arab Emirates)]

(Khaleej Times (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LG Electronics on Wednesday further strengthened its G Series lineup of premium mobile devices with the launch of its first-ever tablet in the UAE and Middle East.

The global leader and technology innovator launched all-new LG G Pad 8.3 tablet, which boasts the first Full HD display on an eight-inch class device, a unique user-experience and wide range of connectivity features with the company's flagship smartphone G2 and other Android-based devices.

"The demand for tablet has been growing steadily in the Gulf. With the introduction of the G Pad 8.3-inch tablet, we are offering the right product for the techno-savvy customers," said D.Y. Kim, president of LG Electronics, Gulf FZE.

The LG's maiden 16GB tablet features a slim and sleek form and equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Processor with 1.7GHz Quad-Core CPU and a 1920 x 1200 widescreen ultra extended graphics array (WUXGA) display. The device also squeezes in a powerful 4600mAh battery for long-lasting usage.

"The premium device is an exciting addition to the LG's G Series smartphones. The G Pad exemplifies the most sought-after technological innovations as yet in the tablet segment, which is currently among the fastest-growing trends in electronics industry," Kim said.

UAE core market The South Korean manufacturer focuses on increasing its market share in the region with the much-awaited launch of the new tablet for the Middle East market.

"The UAE is a core market for LG products and we made G Pad's Middle East debut here in the emirate," Stan Lee, mobile division head of LG Electronics Gulf, told Khaleej Times at the launch event.

He said the new device is available at all Jumbo stores in the UAE and it will cost the user Dh1,399.

"We introduced G Pad in South Korea, US, European Union and selective Asian markets last month. And now with its Middle East launch, we expect good response from the region's core markets including the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia," he said.

In reply to a question, he said LG initially has launched only 16GB tablet and will wait for the market feedback before making further plans to stride in this segment.

"We have different portfolios in tablet segment and if market demands 3G tablet or higher version, LG will definitely go for it. As of now, we have no immediate plan for 3G as 16GB and wifi only tablets dominate the market," he said.
