Valley Presbyterian Hospital Announces Co-Director of Amputation Prevention Center


VAN NUYS, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Valley Presbyterian Hospital is pleased to announce Ronald Belczyk, DPM, as the Co-Director of the renowned Amputation Prevention Center.

Dr. Belczyk joined the medical staff in September 2010 as a board-certified podiatric surgeon specializing in infection, deformity correction, and post-traumatic foot and ankle reconstruction. In his new role, he will work with Amputation Prevention Center Medical Director George Andros, MD, to lead the highly regarded team of podiatric and vascular surgery specialists to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to limb preservation.

Dr. Belczyk is a graduate of the California College of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt College in Oakland, Calif., and completed his podiatric residency and fellowship in limb salvage techniques at the University of Pittsburgh Mdical Center. He completed additional fellowships in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and an AO fellowship in orthopedics in Lugano, Switzerland. He has advanced surgical training in external fixation from the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics in Kurgan, Russia, and from KAT General Hospital in Athens, Greece.



Dr. Belczyk is actively involved in teaching, research, and clinical trials. He lectures on the topics of diabetic Charcot reconstruction and soft tissue coverage of the diabetic foot. He also has published scientific articles on the topics of Charcot foot and podiatric surgical procedures.
