Microsoft warns of Xbox One backwards compatiblity prank [T-break Tech (Middle East)]

(T-break Tech (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Xbox One is not backwards compatible, meaning that it cannot play Xbox 360 games due to the architectural changes between the two systems. There is absolutely nothing you can do or install to make it so, and so if an someone on the Internet promises you backwards compatibility by pressing a series of buttons, be aware that it is fake.

An instructional image has been making the rounds on message boards and social channels, which when followed, unlocks a hidden backwards compatibility feature that allows you to play any Xbox 360 game you like. Obviously the instructions are fake, and following it will put your Xbox One system into an eternal reboot loop, effectively bricking the system.

Microsoft’s Larry Hryb has warned gamers against following the instructions and has reaffirmed that there is no backwards compatibility on the Xbox One.

To be clear there is no way to make your Xbox One backwards compatible & performing steps to attempt this could make your console inoperable — Larry Hryb (@majornelson) December 6, 2013 Via, The Verge.
