SA Telkom Wholesale and Networks to invest ZAR 12bn in broadband network [IntelliNews - Weekly Reports]

(IntelliNews - Weekly Reports Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) South African Telkom Wholesale and Networks (TWN), the ICT wholesale providing subsidiary of the telecoms operator Telkom, plans to invest ZAR 12bn (EUR 838.7mn) in the next generation high speed broadband network to ultimately support South Africa's broadband ecosystem at large, ITNews Africa reported.

The daily quoted Telkom Wholesale and Development's managing director as saying that the evolution of the Telkom network is ongoing, and the impact of its deployed infrastructure has done much to grow the adoption of broadband in South Africa.

TWN has recently announced DSL speed upgrades, which will be finalised in February 2014. The company has also invested in new generation broadband access technologies such as VDSL, PON (Passive Optic Network) and Active Ethernet.
