Zambia to reopen USD 220mn digital broadcast migration tender [IntelliNews - Weekly Reports]

(IntelliNews - Weekly Reports Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Zambia's cabinet decided to reopen a USD 220mn digital broadcast migration tender that was been cancelled in September following the public lack of approval of the chosen winner – China's software company Star Software Technologies, ITWeb Africa reported.

The new tender will be divided in four lots that will be awarded to different companies. Zambia had planned to beat this year's December 31 deadline set by the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) for countries' digitalisation but will fail to meet the deadline due to financial challenges. However, the country is committed to meet the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) deadline of June 2015.
