U.S. HealthWorks Marks National Influenza Vaccination Week
LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--
With the peak of the holiday season a little over two weeks away,
medical professionals around the country are working this week to keep
influenza from ruining the holiday season.
HealthWorks Medical Group, a leading operator of occupational
healthcare and urgent care centers in the nation, is joining with other
health care providers to encourage people to get flu shots during
National Influenza Vaccination Week.
The week - December 8-14 - was established in 2005 by the Center for
Disease Control and to highlight the importance of promoting influenza
"Without a doubt, the single best way to protect against the flu is to
get vaccinated every year," said Dr. Mark Pucek, Chief Medical Officer,
for U.S. HealthWorks. "Many people have good intentions, but for
whatever reason they either decide to get a flu shot too late or not at
all. Everyone 6 months and older should get vaccinated."
Influenza shouldn't be taken lightly because it's a serious disease that
can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death. Every flu season
is different, and influenza infection can affect people differently.
Even healthy people can get very sick from the flu and spread it to
HealthWorks offers flu shots at locations in 19 states - and will
visit workplaces to vaccinate large groups of employees, dramatically
decreasing the chances of the flu spreading in the office. The on-site
program is available to businesses providing vaccinations for 25
employees or more and in the vicinity of a U.S. HealthWorks location.
U.S. HealthWorks has 203 centers and worksite locations in 19 states and
employs 2,700 people. The centers offer urgent care services, as well as
physical therapy, chiropractic and occupational healthcare services.
