ACS President awarded Honorary Life Mebership
(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sydney - Dr NickTate, outgoing President of the Australian Computer Society, has been awarded HonoraryLife Membership of the ACS. This achievement is in recognition of Dr Tate'sexceptional service to the Society, its members, and the ICT profession.
Dr Tatejoined the ACS in 2004, rising quickly to be appointed a Fellow of the ACS justtwo short years later. Since 2008, Dr Tate has served on the ManagementCommittee of the ACS as a Congressional Representative, then as Treasurer andmost recently as President.
Hisachievements within the profession have also seen him serve as Chair of theWorld Computer Congress held in Brisbane in 2010, and as President of the SouthEast Asian Regional Computer Confederation in 2013.
Throughouthis Presidency Dr Tate has played a pivotal role in securing the ACS as thelead agency in the development of a Consumer Cloud Protocol and has overseenthe establishment of the ACS Future Leader's Institute.
Dr Tateholds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of St Andrews, aMasters in Computer Science and a PhD in IT Security. He is currently theDirector of the Research Data Storage Infrastructure Project at the Universityof Queensland.
