(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NEW DELHI, Dec. 10 -- The Confederation of Indian Industry issued the following news release: With the focus towards promoting good Corporate Governance as key tool to foster business growth, create sustainable value, and stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship, National Foundation for Corporate Governance is organizing a Conference on Corporate Governance on 12-13 December 2013 at Chennai. Mr Sachin Pilot, Hon'ble Minister for Corporate Affairs is the Chief Guest and will deliver the Inaugural Address at the Conference.



The main objective of the Conference will be to deliberate on the challenges of complying with the new corporate governance requirements and also encourage companies to adopt a strategic approach to meet these challenges.

The one and half day Conference will have discussion on various new concepts and themes introduced through the new Companies Act 2013 - - Legislating Duties of Directors - International comparison vis-r-vis India - Related Party Transactions in the new Companies Act - CSR: Growing Trend of 'Comply or Explain' - Rights and Responsibility of Institutional Investors - Business Value of Good Corporate Governance The Inaugural Session will be held on 12 December 2013 and Plenary Sessions on 13 December 2013 at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai.


In addition to the Hon'ble Minister for Corporate Affairs, Mr Naved Masood, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Mr B Muthuraman, Vice Chairman, Tata Steel Ltd, Mr R Seshasayee, Executive Vice-Chairman, Hinduja Group; Mr S Raman, Whole time Member, SEBI, Mr M J Joseph, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Mr B Santhanam, President, Flat Glass, South Asia, Eygpt & Managing Director, Saint-Gobain Glass India Ltd., Mr V Balakrishnan, Member of Board, Infosys Ltd, Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, Confederation of Indian Industry, Mr Simon Walker, Director General, Institute of Directors, UK, and others eminent speakers will be sharing their views and thoughts on the subject at the Conference.
