Users with voice Data only SIMs can now take advantage of a completely unlimited mobile data package for AED 999, which is not capped at a maximum usage amount. Postpaid voice SIM users meanwhile can enjoy 20GB for AED449, a package that was previously only available to voice disabled users on devices such as laptops and tablets. Commenting on the new offer, Khaled ElKhouly, Chief Marketing Officer, Etisalat UAE said: "As the demand for data has increased dramatically over the past few years, our new bundles will target these specific requirements and continue to deliver great value to customers. Etisalat is at the forefront of innovation and is committed to keeping pace with the latest industry trends to offer consumers increased flexibility and simplicity." The UAE's smartphone penetration is among the highest in the world and data usage is rising rapidly, driven by vastly improved internet access for smartphones and tablets. According to a report by the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA), internet usage penetration in the UAE stands at 73 per cent currently, exceeding both MENA and worldwide averages, which stand at 41 and 51 per cent respectively. "Activity such as watching videos on YouTube, exchanging files via Whatsapp or using certain apps all consume high amounts of data meaning customers require packages that can accommodate their data usage," added ElKhouly. "Etisalat has a responsibility to meet the needs of its customers and we want their experience to be as enjoyable as possible. These packages are some of the most competitive in the market and ensure customers enjoy optimal data usage and peace of mind." The unique offers are in line with Etisalat's recent strategy of offering attractive packages for smartphone users. Both prepaid and postpaid customers will also be able to take advantage of Etisalat's 4G LTE network, which covers 80 per cent of the inhabited area of the country and allows users of 4G phones to connect to the internet at speeds up to 150 Mbps.
