Shopping for New Generic Top-Level Domains Made Simple by Easyspace

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Glasgow, United Kingdom (PRWEB UK) 12 December 2013 Easyspace, one of the UK’s largest domain name providers, has created a brand new website where customers can register their interest for free in the new ICANN generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs).

The website, http://www.easyspace.com/domain-names/new-gtlds has been designed to allow customers to create a shopping basket of domains they are interested in, such as .london, .sale, .app and .blog, as they become available. Easyspace will register customers’ details for free and then inform them as soon as those new domains are released for formal pre-registration.

Sarah Haran, managing director of Easyspace, said: “Customers should not be paying any money to register their interest at the moment unless they own the trademark for their brand. It is absolutely free to register on our new website. All you have to do is choose the domains you’re interested in and pop them into your shopping basket.

“Only when the time comes to formally pre-register your interest will we ask for payment so that we can submit a request to the correct domain name registry on your behalf. When the domains become available for pre-registration Easyspace will also refund the money paid for any gTLD pre-registrations that are unsuccessful.” The release of the new gTLDs provides a unique opportunity for companies, brands, organisations and individuals to reinforce their presence on the internet. ICANN, The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, is rolling out more than a thousand new generic Top-Level Domains including dot London which will see London become one of the first cities in the world to launch its own city domain name.

With so many domains up for grabs the new gTLD Easyspace website gives a breakdown of the launch periods as each domain moves through the various Sunrise, Landrush and General Availability phases. The website also allows customers to search for specific domain extensions that are yet to enter those phases.

There is also a separate page with specific information for trademark holders. Easyspace will provide trademark holders with the ability to register their trademark with the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH), which is a requirement for anyone wishing to register their new domain during the Sunrise phase. It is currently inviting trademark holders who are registered with TMCH to apply for the first 21 domain extensions available for registration in Sunrise which include .bike, .photography, .plumbing and .gallery.

Easyspace is part of leading cloud company iomart Group plc which owns and operates data centres at eight locations throughout the UK.
